History

It begins with the early years of the mission societies, with a primary focus on sending missionaries and helping to change the lives of women and girls in foreign lands, and moves through the founding of home missions with a focus on the education and training of black, Native American, and Mexican youth; and work among Chinese immigrate girls and women during the 1880's and early 1900's.

OUR PURPOSE
"The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."
